UN POCO DE HISTORIA:
Esta banda noruega de nombre onomatopéyico tuvo su momento de gloria en la primera mitad de los ’80, cuando el éxito de su álbum debut Hunting high and low (1985) y especialmente de su tema “Take on me” los ubicó en los primeros puestos de los charts británicos y estadounidenses. Más allá de su música (un synth pop elaborado y pegadizo), el componente visual estaba de su parte: a partir del histórico clip de “Take on me” (el cual combinaba animación con actores de carne y hueso, todo un elemento vanguardista para la época), el cantante Morten Harket se convirtió en uno de los principales sex symbols de la escena musical.

Su segundo álbum se llamó Scoundrel days y fue editado en 1986. El disco fue bien recibido por la crítica (logró revertir la imagen de “banda adolescente” que tenía A-Ha hasta el momento) pero no tuvo la repercusión esperada entre el público. Luego de colaborar en la banda de sonido de una película de James Bond lanzaron Stay on these roads (1988), otro álbum maduro pero poco efectivo en los rankings.

En 19990 tuvieron su último gran hit con el cover de los Everly Brothers "Crying in the rain", incluido en su cuarto LP East of the sun, west of the moon. No obstante, la escena musical cambió y el pop bailable de los ’80 cedió terreno, con las correspondientes pérdidas para la banda. Luego de lanzar Memorial beach en 1993 se separaron para dedicarse a poco fructíferas carreras solistas.

En 2000 ensayaron un regreso con el poco difundido Minor Earth major sky, al cual le siguió Lifelines dos años después. En diciembre de 2004 editaron una recopilación de grandes éxitos titulada Singles 1984-2004.

Lejos de vivir de la nostalgia, A-Ha sigue prolífico en el nuevo siglo: su tercer álbum de estudio en seis años (Analogue) salió en enero de 2006, y obtuvo una buena recepción en Gran Bretaña, donde llegaron al Top 10.
